Topic Summary

Thank you everyone for expressing your interest for this custom map project. Recently, this idea has been blown out of proportion. Let me clarify a few things:

- World of Starcraft name is changed to Starcraft Universe.
- This project is not a true mmorpg; The backround story will be the existing SC Lore with no quest system or mob grinding.
- This project will be made and published through a series of Starcraft 2 maps. To play, you MUST have a valid copy of Starcraft 2 and have a Battle.net account.
- Similar to dungeon raiding in WoW, a party of players must carefully battle through high powered monsters and defeat a boss.
- Players may create and save multiple customizable character classes
- Players using existing characters may 'evolve' (not level up) them using loot and attribute points gained from battles.

We will continue working on this project. Continue checking this site for more information. New website and forum coming soon

Oh? The reason he isn't using Zerg as a faction for PC's is because it doesn't fit into the lore, as far as I was told.

Is there any plans to make maps that are more like free roaming? For example you can explore Aiur and have several raids attached to the map with maybe one town in it.

Yeah that about clears it up. And don't worry, there will be TONS of world to explore. Heck, might even make a map just for Roleplay :D

Sorry, two more questions. Will there be any raids that have nothing to do with the story line or won't affect the story line in any way. For instance, you and a group go take out a hive cluster on Char.

Also, what's your position on community submitted raid ideas. Like the raid idea that I cooked up before all of this blizzard stuff went viral (and just to clarify it didn't really affect any story line because Fenix stays dead).

@cookies12100 I for one would like to see a free roam sandbox rpg map to be made. Once we get a few raid maps published, we'll look into a that kind of map type. (I can't wait!!!)

Currently, the raids that Ryan is creating will be set in past battles from the Campaigns of SC2 and SC1 and battles mentioned in Starcraft fictional books. Continue discussing and creating new ideas for raids. If it is okay with us and the gp wants it, most likely it will be made. For now, we are looking at past battles/events for a map raid to be appropiate in. For example, *spoiler alert* the last campaign level when engaging The Queen of Blades is one map raid idea we're thinking of developing.

Am I to take this thread as a spoonful of "there is no need for writers on this project", then? =)

Yeah. It was a hard decision to make but one very important thing to us is not upsetting the general public by tainting lore in any way. We also don't want to upset the writers at Blizzard.

I think the map could use a few writers to help script out any dialogue and what not. So I think writers are needed but just not for storyline.

Whether you need writers or not, at least get a decent editor with a good grasp on the English language. I haven't seen a custom SC2 map yet that isn't riddled with grammatical errors.

Do you need some help testing the maps? I would love to help out. I have experience in a couple of beta tests from Server 2008 to some MMO games too trivial to mention names.

That is great Starrkiller. We have a signup thread here: http://worldofstarcraft.proboards.com/in....splay&thread=28

In order to test, you must have valid copy of Starcraft 2 and a Battle.net account
