Just wanted to say please do not give up. you prolly have a lot of people supporting you and this project could really lead to some nice jobs for you with all this publicity.

i just read everything and now realize the ryan made this amazing game, if a common guy can make this game, so why the fok we pay 80$ to play SC 2to blizzard and they take fukng long time to make a fukng simple game?
ohhhhhhh they to busy with WOW gain billions every moth, and give up SC ghost.
know wath fouk blizzard, all theses years i give them a lot of respect, to make this game more fun, but now is about the money

Ryan dont give up theses blizzard and activision guys are just @$$holes without a dream to make world of starcraft
but hey Put "universe of starcraft" make more sense,right

Did Blizzard actually say to stop working on this entirely and try to squash it?

The takedown likely was due to the name being so close to their seminal works (and probably things in the pipeline, as mentioned already).

I say, change the name to something else and keep working on it. It won't get the instant recognition this name does, but you could put "A mod based on Blizzard's Starcraft" or something like that at the bottom of the title screen. Between the images and that, people will know what it is in 2 seconds.

Yeah, it's a downer - the name itself won't be as much of a draw, but you can still work on it. And a mod with a different name & title screen probably won't get a takedown notice.

Hey man just wanted to say I like the effort and emotion you seem to be putting towards this and so on that note I think right away your best bet is to change the name and make no claims to the StarCraft name whatsoever until you resolve things with Blizzard. You seem to be drawing a lot of attention both negative and positive with your endeavours and I'd hate to see them all be in vain.

Yeah I agree with the guy above. Its probably the title more than anything else that will make them upset. If you change the title (as good as it is W.o.S. !) then they will effectively have no claim on you, because they have given you access to the Dev. tools and reasonably they had to expect this kind of thing was going to happen.

It has more to do with the name Ryan, I'm 99% sure of this because a mod way back in the day was forced to change its name (Gundamcraft) because Blizzard was all antsy abut craft being used in the name.

You'll need to figure out a better name, but I'm sure they aren't trying to put you out of business.

They better have one hell of a good reason to cancel this project...

News of this project is spreading all over the WORLD... I haven't visited any of the Korean sites but I'm betting its spreading all over the place..

Keeping GOING!! Shift gears and put the pedal to the metal!!
Lets get to beta.. Lets push this project out to the public!!

Honestly I think the public is on your side. Media groups give you coverage. Fans empower your vision.

If Blizzard/Activision cancels this project they set a very dangerous precedence for future SC2 mods/maps

Maybe this is a bit premature... but if anyone from Blizzard reads these boards.. pay attention and don't take this lightly...

If you cancel this project there are people out there that will become your worst nightmare.

You may swing your weight around and believe you can just sell your games on the purity of the blizzard name but once you betray the spirit of the gamer, the seeds of your demise will be planted. Years of good games and fan loyalty is easily broken by a simple injustice.
