| I agree that YouTube is different than Blizzard. I would definitely try to find a way to contact them directly about this. Perhaps you can change the name so there's no confusion between this and possible future projects. I played plenty of RPGs that were created for the original Starcraft. One could say that these resembled Diablo II in many ways, but they weren't shut down! As long as you make a clear distinction that it's not "World of" anything, I don't see why it would be an issue. |

Come to think of it, it might be possible that whoever reported the original video didn't realize that they were looking at a SC2 UMS. |

I didn't even think about that. You're totally right. That's even more reason to clarify it with Blizzard themselves, and not let some Activision legal troll get you down!

| Just want to point out, this could even just be Youtube's automated "anti-infringement" scripts getting trigger-happy. So yeah, don't let this get you down! It could be something, it could be nothing. |

there should be NO problem with this game. you are using the name, world of starcraft for a non proffit game using the materials you purchased for the game.
this is not illegal, this is not a copyright infridgement nor is this worthy of any trouble.
Blizzard and activision need to stop bieng so $ hungry and let this project go on as such.
if blizzard actually does make a world of starcraft there still shouldn't be a problem as the name you are using is not a copyright infridgement as it is made for a non proffit project for the masses.
if i take a cardboard box and name it world of starcraft and put it on youtube they do not have the right to take that off as its non proffit and simply allowed to be used as it is protected in our first amendment.
copyrighted or not this is bullshit and you deserve to make your game and have no vidoes taken down.
all in all
blizzard/activision........ be like valve and help your fan base do what ever they want with tools they bought FROM you.

to test to see if it was just a name "infridgement" go and make a random video with the title world of starcraft and see if that gets taken down.

You do realise that you simply have to change the name to something not obviously violating their trademarks and everything will be fine?
I mean c'mon. Infringing on the World of Warcraft _and_ Starcraft trademarks both at once? If Blizzard doesn't defend those they'll, by law, risk loosing them.
Anyway. Choose a new, unique, name and carry on with your work. I couldn't even watch your video because it was taken down... |

| should have just kept quiet about the whole thing and kept the idea of this on one site and put the vids on that site not through youtube tho i know the warcraft 3 wow mod was ok so why cant there be basicaly the same thing for starcraft like that other guy said on page 1 i think blizzard and activision are working on somthing but other then that i think every one that has been a guest here or sighned up to these fourms and wants to make WOS |

| Been down this road with Blizzard 12 years ago. I don't think they'll be any more receptive now than they were then. Good luck though, pal. A tremendous effort. Just don't count on any more reward beyond pat-on-the-back accolades from the fans. |

as my name says ... blizzard is all about that nothing more ... i'm sure they dont have a mmo project on the table as they would of made a big fuss about it just like sc2 ... they probably want to keep the name for them if they or theyr blizzard moneylover children decide to make a mmo with that name
i stoped playing sc2 a while ago ... i just told some ppl i know to stop playing sc2 and they will ... if a lot of ppl would stop paying to play sc2 and tell blizzard its because of this bs they did to ryan on youtube they would have no other choise but to go bankrupt or let ryan make this if they made the frighin editor
infringements rights my ass ... you made the editor and O.o you allowed sc fans have access to it
if it was an editor only for blizzard and it was somehow pirated i would of understand ... but if you as a company make an editor like this and allow fans to use it ... well u give away your rights
